MANCHESTER CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
This committee provides a discussion forum for community interests
and issues. The Council enhances communication between Manchester
-area residents and Kitsap County government, and coordinates efforts
of the many council and community residents currently working to improve the Manchester community. MCAC members represent Manchester’s broad interests and work together to proactively address community interests and concerns.
The Manchester Community Foundation is a non-profit
organization, comprised of several standing committees,
each with it's own By Laws and Executive Board.
The Foundation consists of three interest groups:

Crime Prevention and Public Safety Group
Manchester Historical Society
QAQAD STORMWATER PARK
Completed in the Fall of 2015 this park will not only improve water
quality to Puget Sound, it has created a new public space for locals
and visitors alike. The name Qaqad (pronounced "ka-kawd") was
chosen to honor the Suquamish tribe who were the first inhabitants
of the area. The facility collects stormwater runoff from about 100 acres of surrounding hillside and filters out pollutants including oil, heavy metals, and pathogens through a patented mixture of sand and organic materials in several chambers.
KRL MANCHESTER LIBRARY
One block from the Port of Manchester is the Manchester Library.
In 1976 the Friends of the Manchester Library became a registered
nonprofit organization, sought a loan to build a permanent library
building, and with a grant from Kitsap Regional Library, donations,
and many hours of volunteer construction, the building was completed
in 1980. The building is surrounded by gardens used as a water-wise
teaching garden, which demonstrate environmentally sound gardening techniques and educate the public on local flora.
FRIENDS OF THE MANCHESTER LIBRARY BOOKSTORE
The bookstore has a collection of thousands of books including a
collection of numerous fiction titles, non-fiction, gardening and
cook books, alongside a large collection of children's and young
adult titles. The book store is open during regular

Although the Manchester Library is part of the Kitsap Regional
Library system, the building and grounds are operated by the
Friends of the Manchester Library. This ambitious group of
volunteers not only manage and maintain one of Manchester's
greatest assets, they also host the single biggest community
event of the year, The Manchester Salmon Bake every Father's Day.
THE PORT OF MANCHESTER and POMEROY PARK
The Port of Manchester owns and operates a boat launch,
parking area, and waterfront park. The park is open to everyone
and offers unique views of the Seattle skyline, Blake Island State
Park, and Mt. Rainier. Launch your boat or kayak here for
convenient access to Puget Sound, or simply bring a lunch and
enjoy the sunshine at one of the many picnic tables available.
